2010-07-12 | Napalm Death, Kreator Members To Guest On New Volbeat Album | Napalm Death's Mark "Barney" Greenway and Kreator's Mille Petrozza have recorded guest appearances on "Beyond Hell/Above Heaven", the fourth studio album from Danish metal rock 'n' rollers Volbeat. "We were listening to those guys when we were 14, 15 years old, and we have definitely not forgotten them for inspiring us," Volbeat singer/guitarist Michael Poulsen told Revolver magazine. "They know Volbeat - they like our records. We had the opportunity to talk to those guys during the last three years touring around Europe. And to actually have them on the record is really a great compliment. What they did in the studio to the Volbeat sound is amazing."
"Beyond Hell/Above Heaven" will be released in Germany on September 10 and in most parts of Europe on September 13 by Vertigo/Universal. The CD was once again recorded at Hansen Studios in Ribe, Denmark with producer Jacob Hansen. Source: DarkSide.ru |

2007-10-16 | Napalm Death post The Offenders cover | According to posting on the MySpace page for the legendary hardcore/punk band MDC (Millions Of Dead Cops), the group's former bassist Mikey "Offender" Donaldson passed away in his sleep on September 22 in Barcelona Spain where he had recently relocated from Amsterdam. The cause is unknown at the moment. He was 46. Mikey Donaldson was the bass player for Austin punk band The Offenders from 1978 to 1986. He recorded bass tracks on MDC's groundbreaking effort “Millions of Dead Cops” and D.R.I.'s “Dealing With It” as well as played and recorded with Gary Floyd (Dicks) and Lynn Perko (Imperial Teen) in Sister Double Happiness.
To pay tribute to this truly special musician and person Napalm Death launched their cover of The Offender’s classic “Face Down In The Dirt” at MySpace. Grab it for free!
"The Offenders were one of my all time favourite hardcore bands, the bass intro to "Face Down In The Dirt" is a classic to this day - Mikey will be missed.” (Shane Embury)

2003-12-03 | Napalm Death bassist & Cathedral singer form band | Napalm Death bassist Shane Embury has confirmed plans to form a "grindcore" project with Cathedral frontman (and ex-Napalm Death member) Lee Dorrian.
"Me and Lee have been talking about doing something for ages but I think hopefully next year we will get something together," Embury said, "Hopefully Roy Mayorga, who was playing drums in Soulfly, will drum and Mid [a.k.a. Robert Middleton] who is responsible for a lot of the Napalm Death artwork will play guitar as he now plays in a band called Bait and used to be the guitar player for Deviated Instinct, who of course go way back to the early Napalm days."
With regards to Embury's much-anticipated "total punk thrash grind" project with ex-Napalm Death drummer Mick Harris, former Brutal Truth singer Kevin Sharp and Melvins/Fantomas guitarist Buzz Osborne, Embury said, "[the group's debut album] will be out early next year as we are just searching for a label to put it out. But it's done and ready to go. [We're] gonna be recording some songs for some split records early next year as well." Source: BlabberMouth |
