2010-07-13Kasabian set for hero's welcome in Spain
Kasabian are set for the royal treatment - Andres Iniesta plans to give the rockers a night to remember as thanks for helping Spain win the World Cup. Spaniards were celebrating on Sunday after their national team defeated the Netherlands 1-0 in the tournament - and now 26-year-old ace Iniesta wants to pay due credit to Kasabian, whose music helped the players get "pumped" before every match. Iniesta tells The Sun, "I am thanking everybody who helped us win the World Cup. Kasabian were a big inspiration in the dressing room. Their Club Foot has been our choice of song before we run out for about a year now. I want to say a big thank you to them, I want to offer them something. "I want to invite them as my guests to come and watch the world's greatest football match between Barcelona and Real Madrid at the Camp Nou. "I will even sort it for them to come and have a kickaround on the pitch the day before. "We can go out and have a mad night in Barcelona and celebrate the World Cup win properly. They haven't got to worry about hotels, I am in the mood for sharing. "They can come and stay at my house so I can show them my World Cup medal and we can have a couple of beers round my pool. Greatest band in the world, on behalf of Spain, I want to say thank you. Not just thank you, we love you!" The band's Serge Pizzorno has already vowed to perform at the Spanish football team's victory party after learning the players are huge fans of their music.

2009-12-28Critics Vote Dance Act's Album Best Of 2009
Music critics have voted US psychedelic dance act Animal Collective's record "Merriweather Post Pavilion" the album of the year. The New York-based indie band topped HMV's annual "poll of polls" for 2009 and reflected a strong showing from acts signed to independent record labels. The poll was voted for by critics and writers from the music and national press in the UK and Ireland and online sites, totalling 34 organisations. Merriweather Post Pavilion received 13 nominations and was named album of the year by Mojo and Uncut magazines and The Sunday Times. The January release, which reached number 26 in the charts, saw off the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' "It's Blitz" into second and The XX's self-titled debut into third. Fourth place was claimed by Brooklyn-based experimental rock outfit Dirty Projectors for their album "Bitte Orca", while Grizzly Bear grabbed fifth with their highly-rated title "Veckatimest". The rest of the top 10 was made up of albums from Horrors, Fever Ray, Florence And The Machine, a class=vlin href=/vcat.phtml?action=va&singer=16859>Bat For Lashes and Wild Beasts. Releases from Manic Street Preachers, Arctic Monkeys and Bob Dylan made the top 25. Kasabian's "West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum" - credited by Q magazine as the album of the year - was voted the year's 29th finest record. The Mercury Music Prize album of the year - Speech Debelle's "Speech Therapy" - failed to make the top 50.

2008-03-05Kasabian experiment for LP
Kasabian have revealed their album has taken an experimental turn. Leicester's premier indie-dance outfit are currently in the studio recording their as-yet-untitled third album. Guitarist Serge PIzzorno told Xfm: "In a way it's like a concept album, like a soundtrack to some mad film." He explained: "We've really been experimenting on this album. The first three tracks we've done are twenty minutes long!"

2007-11-20Kasabian set for NYE surprise
Kasabian claim they have something special in store for fans attending their New Years Eve gig in Edinburgh. As previously reported on Orange, the Leicester band will be performing as part of the Scottish capital's Hogmanay celebrations at Princess Street Gardens. Now guitarist Sergio Pizzorno tells the Daily Record: "Since we are headlining it, we have planned a surprise." He added: "I can't tell you what it is because it's one of those things that if it does not happen it will still be a great gig, but if we do pull it off it will be the greatest New Year throughout the whole world - I promise."

2007-06-22Kasabian are the latest band to be added to the line-up for Live Earth.
Kasabian are the latest band to be added to the line-up for Live Earth. The Leicester rockers will play at the new Wembley Stadium on July 7, along with Bloc Party, Beastie Boys, Madonna and Foo Fighters. The Pussycat Dolls, Terra Naomi and Metallica have also been added, completing the line-up for the London leg of the worldwide music extravaganza. Metallica's Lars Ulrich says he's happy to be involved such an important event. "I love my sons," he said. "I want them to 'inherit the earth' for real. We can keep waiting for future generations to solve the problems; to invent cleaner technology; to pay the costs... that's the same as passing the buck. "I want the buck to stop here, now. I wants lawmakers and laws to impose change. Nothing else will keep this world safe for my sons," Lars added. Live Earth is a series of concerts over 24 hours on July 7 taking place in Sydney, Tokyo, Shanghai, Istanbul, Johannesburg, London, Hamburg, Rio de Janeiro and New York.
